Lucid Transformed the Gravity SUV Into a Legit Off-Roader

As we learned earlier this year, the Lucid Gravity is a shockingly fun electric crossover. It rips on dirt roads. So, Lucid’s leaning in to its SUV's rowdy nature with this: The Gravity X concept, which the automaker is debuting this week during Monterey Car Week. By all accounts, this is a Lucid off-roader.

Based on the 824-horsepower Gravity Grand Touring, the Gravity X Concept gets new front and rear fascias with integrated tow hooks, a suspension lift, wider tracks, skid plates, orange accents, body cladding, and knobby all-terrain tires.

The new fascias plus the lift improve the Gravity’s approach and departure angles, and while this doesn’t turn it into a rock crawler, it should help with trickier terrain. Lucid also added a roof box with integrated LED lights, perfect for the overlanding set.

Lucid design boss Derek Jenkins notes:

'[The] Lucid Gravity has redefined the limits of what an uncompromising SUV can achieve. The Lucid Gravity X concept expands on these core principles to explore new possibilities off the beaten path while showcasing the incredible capabilities of the Lucid Gravity. Lucid's range, power, and versatility make it an ideal vehicle for those adventurers looking to explore further off-road.'

Inside, there are lots of orange accents to match the exterior, and a microsuede steering wheel. This one is also a three-row, so you can take your whole family with you to go slide around on dirt roads.

Lucid hasn’t said whether it’ll build a Gravity variant based on this concept. Right now, it’s the company is having trouble building the Gravity full stop. But Lucid has surely seen the hype around the Rivian R3X and figured it could do something in the same vein. Here’s hoping it does.
