Lucas Torreira breaks his silence with Instagram message after injury blow vs Crystal Palace

Lucas Torreira is doubtful for Arsenal's Premier League encounter against Sheffield United this weekend.

The midfielder - who has been one of the Gunners' better performers since the appointment of Mikel Arteta as head coach - was forced off at half-time in the 1-1 draw away at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

It was confirmed afterwards that the Uruguay international had picked up a muscle injury

Mikel Arteta: We switched off for the goal

"It looks like it's an injury," Arteta told reporters."He had to come off at half-time.

"We'll have to check with the doctor but it looks like it.

"It's a muscle injury, we will have to assess it with the doctors tomorrow or the day after then we will know more."

Matteo Guendouzi replaced Torreira at the interval but couldn't prevent the visitors from losing the 1-0 lead given to them in the first-half by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Attentions now turn towards the visit of Sheffield United to the Emirates Stadium as the north London outfit aim to get back to winning ways in their bid to finish in the top four.

Having failed to see out the Palace game naturally Torreira is considered doubtful for the game against Chris Wilder's side as well as the London derby against Chelsea a few days later.

But it would appear Torreira is in good spirits.

Taking to social media after the Palace game, he somewhat broke his silence following the injury setback without saying too much.

"Crystal Palace 1 Arsenal 1," he wrote on Instagram with a couple of hashtags.

Whilst it's not confirmation that the injury is not too serious, the fact there was no mention of the problem that forced him off against Palace could be a positive sign.

Losing Torreira for an extended period will be a blow to the Gunners and Arteta.

Meanwhile, the Arsenal head coach is set to be without Aubameyang for the next three games following his red card at Selhurst Park, although Goal have reported that the club are hoping to have the ban reduced.
