A stunning second-half double from Lucas Moura gave Tottenham hope of producing a remarkable comeback in their Champions League semi-final against Ajax.
Trailing 1-0 from the first leg in London, Spurs’ task was made all the harder by first half goals from Ajax captain Matthias De Ligt and Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech, which left the aggregate score at 3-0.
However, Spurs emerged from the half-time interval with renewed verve, and Lucas found the goal that ignited the fightback at the end of brilliant counter attack, started by a nutmeg from Danny Rose on De Ligt deep in his own half.
From there, the left back played a long ball up field to Lucas, and he exchanged passes with Dele Alli before poking an excellent finish home.
Within three minutes, the Brazilian was at it again, reacting fastest to some penalty box pinball to find the back of the net, after Ajax keeper Andre Onana had made a stunning close range save from Fernando Llorente.
That levelled the scores on the night and made it 3-2 on aggregate, leaving Spurs one more away goal from producing a comeback to rival that which Liverpool pulled off against Barcelona on Tuesday.
