'Loving' Newham man, 56, killed on East London street named and pictured for first time

The devastated family of a “loving” 56-year-old man who was killed in East London has paid tribute to him.

Franklin Francis, from Newham, was found unresponsive by police officers in Palmerston Road, Forest Gate, after receiving reports of a fight breaking out.

Mr Francis was taken to the hospital shortly after the incident at 3.50pm on Tuesday, November 25. He sadly died two days later.

Two men, 56 and 24, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and have been released on bail while the officers continue to carry out the investigation.

A photo of Mr Francis has now been released by the Metropolitan Police.

According to Mr Francis's heartbroken family: "Franklin was a loving member of the family whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew him.

“His absence leaves a void that can never be filled. We will miss him dearly every single day,” they said.

Superintendent Sarah Jackson, who leads on policing in the area, said: “We are deeply saddened by this incident, and our thoughts are with Franklin’s family and friends.

“We are doing everything we can to find out who is responsible and have made two arrests as part of our investigation.

She thanked the members of the public who helped Mr Francis while officers and paramedics arrived on the scene.

Superintendent Jackson also acknowledged that the shocking incident may cause concern in the local community and reassured the public that the death of Mr Francis “was an isolated incident.”
