Love Island villa put on 'high alert' as wildfire approaches £1.2M villa

The Love Island contestants were at risk of being evacuated from their swanky Villa as a huge wildfire broke out nearby with everyone put on 'high alert', and an evacuation plan drawn up.

It's understood television bosses became increasingly concerned about the safety of those involved in the ITV2 reality programme. Flames are said to have broke out just two fields away from where the the Islanders are staying.

Firefighters battled for three hours to bring the blaze under control.

A source told The Sun: “Fire crews were rushed to Ludus Magnus estate after a wildfire broke out just two fields away from the villa. The winds were pretty high so there were concerns the blaze could move towards the villa but the fire crews managed to get it under control.

“Naturally the welfare of everyone on the show is the main priority and an evacuation plan has been put in place if it’s needed.“

Everyone is said to be safe (ITV)

An ITV spokesperson said: “A fire brigade has attended a fire in the local area. The incident is not on the Villa grounds. Love Island cast and crew are completely safe.”

Love Island returns to ITV2 this evening and will see the fallout from Friday's recoupling, with Casey now in a couple with new bombshell Rosie, and Claudia coupled up with new boy Keanan.

Claudia will be seen telling Olivia, Samie, Lana and Jessie: “I never thought this would happen to me, I never thought I’d get this attached.”

Later Casey says to Claudia: “I find her attractive and I think it would be silly of me not to get to know her a bit more and that’s all it is.”

Love Island returns to ITV2 and ITVX tonight at 9pm.
