Love Island viewers will notice a big change in this year's opening episode

Viewers tuning in to Love Island will notice a big change in the first episode of the new series.

The popular reality TV show returns to ITV2 on Monday night as 10 more singletons look for love at the Majorcan villa.

Among those taking part are the footballer son of former Premier League, the daughter of a TV star a gas engineer and model.

However, there will be a big change this year as the boys and girls will arrive at the villa at the same time.

In the past only one gender has entered the villa, then contestants of the opposite sex have entered one at a time to be coupled up.

Beautician Ruchee Gurung, 24, from Sutton, Surrey and Jess Harding, 22, an aesthetics practitioner from London, will be the first islanders to make their entrance.

They will be in for a suprise however as they are joined by gas engineer Mitchel Taylor, 26, from Sheffield, and 23-year-old model Ella Thomas, from Glasgow, and business owner Andre Furtado, 21, from Dudley.

Once the first five Islanders have arrived, host Maya Jama will gather them by the firepit to find out what kind of partner they are looking for.

Ella says: “Looks wise, I’d say tall with nice teeth.”

Ruchee then adds: “Height, fashion-sense and someone I can bring home to my family because I’m so family-orientated.”

And Jess says: “My type’s a pretty boy, with Turkey teeth!”

It will then be revealed to the islanders that the decision of who they will couple up with has already been made - with the public having their say for the first time.

Ahead of the first episode, fans were given the chance to vote on the Love Island app for which contestants will be paired up.

The other five islanders joining the villa in the first episode is 24-year-old Tyrique Hyde, a semi-professional footballer from Essex, who is deaf in one ear and musical theatre performer Molly Marsh, 21, from Doncaster.

They will be joined by estate agent Catherine Agbaje, 22, from Dublin, Mehdi Edno, 26, from Bordeaux in France, business development executive George Fensom, 24, from Bedford,

Host Maya Jama returns as host after presenting the winter edition of the series in South Africa earlier this year. Iain Stirling will continue as voiceover for each episode.

Love Island returns to ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm on Monday June 5.
