Love Island summer 2023 – rumoured contestants, host, start date and villa makeover

Summer is approaching and, with it, a new batch of gorgeous singletons looking for fun in the sun and a spot of romance on Love Island.

ITV2's hit reality show is back in a number of weeks, and we can't wait for more secret snogs, barmy arguments and baffling talent show performances.

The most recent series, which was based in South Africa and finished in March, saw Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan scoop the £50,000 prize after falling for each other during Casa Amor, but a new clutch of wannabe reality stars have their eyes on the crown.

Here's everything we know so far about the 2023 summer series, as it returns to Majorca.

Launch date

It's thought Love Island will return to our screens on Monday, June 5, and last for eight weeks.

The last few summer seasons have kicked off at the start of June, leading viewers to think it will be the same this year, although ITV has yet to confirm.

A source told The Sun in April that the show will launch on June 5, and the contestants had been chosen.

Host

For the most recent Love Island outing, Maya Jama replaced Laura Whitmore, who stood down from hosting the dating show after three years.

Maya was a hit with viewers, and she was joined by regular panellists Indiyah Polack and Sam Thompson, during the After Sun programme, where they dissect the villa-going ons.

There was much excitement after Maya was announced as the new host, after months of speculation, and she's said to be eager to return for the next instalment.

In March, Maya shared behind-the-scenes photos from the show on Instagram, writing: "[I had the] best time ever [and I] can't wait to do it all over in the summer".

Contestants

Love Island's line-up has not been officially revealed, but, as with every year, rumours are already flying.

Economics graduate Andre Furtado is reportedly set to enter the villa.

The 21-year-old, who hails from Dudley, is also a clothing brand entrepreneur.

Andre is set to impress the ladies when he walks into the villa this summer after completing his degree and co-founding a fashion line called Social Kids, a brand which has over 17,000 followers on Instagram.

"Andre is the perfect Love Island signing… he's cool, calm, collected, and ready to mingle," a source claimed.

The source added to MailOnline: "He knows himself but without being arrogant and producers are hoping his intellect, as well as his creativity and handsome looks will make him a favourite among the females."

Love Island has a tradition of relatives of celebrities taking part, from Gemma Owen, daughter of former footballer, to Tyson Fury's brother, Tommy.

Viewers will be eagerly guessing who it could be this year.

ITV said the villa line-up will be announced in due course, when contacted by the Mirror.

Villa

The lavish villa in Majorca is undergoing a makeover, with a new fire pit and decking around the swimming pool.

Pictures show construction underway at the property, with work being done on the outside kitchen, where Love Islanders cook breakfast.

Last month, the Mirror exclusively revealed that the summer 2023 Love Island villa is going green this year.

Solar panels have been set up around the property in a bid to reduce the villa's carbon footprint.

But the contestants won't know about the latest addition to the complex as the panels are shielded from the villa and hidden by foliage in a neighbouring field.
