Love Island stars' dating history - sordid affairs, famous exes and ladykiller Hugo

All of this year's Love Island stars have one thing in common - they've all got a pretty bad track record when it comes to dating.

While some Islanders have seemingly come into the villa for a free holiday, definitely not looking at you Hugo, most are trying to find true love.

After years of heartbreak and despair, the 2021 hopefuls are praying that they will finally find 'The One' on the ITV2 dating show, but they had better watch out.

A few of this year's bunch have been cheated on and had their hearts broken, while others have been the villains and actively sought out affairs with people in relationships.

Then there are those who have never been in a proper relationship - and it certainly shows.

Here is a look at the dating history of this year's Islanders.

Liam Reordon

This year's resident heartbreaker, Liam seemed like such a sweet and sensitive guy until his shocking betrayal.

The Welsh bricklayer left poor Millie in floods of tears when she discovered he had tried to pursue something with new girl Lillie.

Liam's behaviour stunned most Love Island viewers, but they should have known as he was giving off a lot of red flags before he even entered the villa.

Back home in Wales, Liam has been given a controversial nickname by his friends which alludes to his dating record.

"Back home my friends tend to call me 'Mr Steal Your Girl' - its says it in the name really," explained Liam during his first interview.

And a lot of people have forgotten about an early conversation he had with Faye Winter regarding his controversial dating history which exposed him as a 'homewrecker'.

Faye was keen to pursue things with Liam after a successful first date, but was immediately put off when he revealed he "texts women who are in relationships".

Stunned by the revelation, Faye replied: "Do you?!? What, so you would purposefully be a homewrecker?"

Not beating around the bush, Liam boldly stated: "Yeah, if they’re up for it."

Chloe Burrows

Chloe decided to apply to Love Island because she kept getting in "awful situationships" and just wanted to find something long-term.

But few had sympathy for the marketing executive when she started gloating about having an affair with a married father.

In her introductory video before entering the villa, Chloe laughed as she confessed to being "partial to a married man".

She also revealed she still "drunk calls" a former flame, despite knowing he has a family, but claimed it's always completely the man's fault.

The 25-year-old said: "You would really think there were fit men in the city but there really aren’t. Most of them are married or have girlfriends so they are 'off limits'.

"They’re not really off limits," she laughed. "I mean I’m partial to a married man.

"I did meet someone at work, I thought it was love at first sight, until my manager reminded me of his wife and kids.

"Doesn’t mean I don’t drunk call him most weekends."

Toby Aromolaran

Toby has got himself in a right mess (ITV)

Semi-pro footballer Toby has made it abundantly clear he doesn't have a clue what he wants.

The Hashtag United player has gone round in circles trying to work out which girl he wants to be with, bouncing from Kaz to Chloe to Abi to Mary and now in a stunning U-turn back to Chloe.

So it makes perfect sense that Toby has never been in a proper relationship before.

The 22-year-old has never had a girlfriend and has been trying to get on Love Island for two years to rectify this.

"I’ve never had a relationship. Full stop. I don’t know why," admitted Toby before entering the villa - but he did have one possible answer.

"It has never gone right. I don’t know though…if I knew I probably wouldn’t be on the show because I’d probably fix that and then find the relationships.

"I have dated here and there but it has never been more than that. I might say I am a bad texter.

"That might be the problem. I am a bad texter. I am more of a face-to-face person. I like face-to-face interaction a lot."

Millie Court

Millie was left broken-hearted in the villa (ITV)

Poor Millie had hear heart broken when Liam's betrayal was revealed in front of the entire villa.

The 24-year-old was with her previous ex for six years but turned to Love Island in a bid to find her dream man.

"I’ve been single for over a year now. I’m ready to find ‘The One’. I’m a very spontaneous and adventurous person," she said before going in.

"I’m always up for doing something new and challenging myself. I’ve never done anything like this before. I just want to throw myself into it and have fun with it."

What made Liam's behaviour all the worse was the fact that Millie has been cheated on by a boyfriend on a lads' holiday in the past.

Hugo Hammond

Hugo is a bit of a ladykiller in real life (ITV)

Viewers are getting a bit fed up of Hugo as he doesn't even seem to be trying to crack on with any ladies.

Love Island bosses have thrown girls his way but he hasn't been able to find a connection with any of them - and his newfound relationship with Amy seems to be on the rocks already.

Hugo has struggled in the villa, so it may come as a surprise that he has been a bit of a player in the past.

His dating history has been a mix of relationships and playing the field.

"I’m a relationship person, with bits and bobs in between," he revealed at the start of his journey.

"My past relationship was just over two years long, I’ve had a couple of other relationships in my past but not as serious. And I went to university and I had a load of fun there.

Hugo says his most recent relationship ended at the start of this year because of "lockdown and distance".

He added: "Put those two together and that’s a combination that wrecks relationships."

Faye Winter

You don't want to get on the wrong side of Faye (REX)

It's been clear to see that Faye has been hurt in the past as she has frequently spoken about the "barriers" she puts up.

It took Faye a long time but finally she was able to let her guard down and open up to Teddy.

Despite wanting a tall man, Faye's last relationship was with a bloke who was only 5ft 7.

“Looks-wise they have to be like 6ft. But then my last relationship that I was in for five years he was like 5ft 7," explained Faye before she went into the villa.

Describing her ideal type, she said: "Someone that will put me in my place. Someone that makes me laugh. But also someone that takes my banter.

"I’m like a 5-year-old in a playground, if I like you, I will make a mockery of you and laugh and joke. That is my really terrible flirting skills. I need someone who can take that."

Jake Cornish

Cheeky chappy Jake was in a seven-year relationship which came crashing down during lockdown.

The 24-year-old engineer was motivated to join the dating show after being dumped amid the coronavirus pandemic and needed to mend his broken heart.

"I was in a relationship for seven years and then when lockdown hit, I was single," explained Jake.

Jake revealed he is a loyal partner who finds it difficult to trust other people after being approached multiple times by women who aren’t single themselves.

Describing his ideal partner, he said: "Looks wise, [I’ve] always gone for blondes. But for me, the main thing is having respect and having good fun, and someone who will be loyal to you.

"I’ve had messages from girls that have got boyfriends and husbands. This is why I don’t trust anyone."

Thankfully, it seems Jake doesn't need to look much further than our next Islander.

Liberty Poole

Nandos waitress Liberty is another Islander who has bravely discussed being hurt in the past, so thankfully she's found a loving boyfriend in Jake.

"I’ve never had that nice, happy relationship so I think it will be nice and something for me to experience," she said in her pre-Love Island interview.

The 21-year-old revealed she entered the villa with a broken heart after being cheated on by her ex-boyfriend.

Best pal Paige Skinner, who has known Liberty since she was 11, described how the blonde bombshell was devastated when her relationship came to a bitter end.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Paige said: “Lib has had a rocky love life. Her relationship with her ex was very on-off for about two years.

“He cheated on her last September and that was when it ended.

"She was heartbroken. I think she found out because the other girl told her. He wasn’t having a full-on affair but he made a mistake and that was enough for Lib. Lib has never really felt loved and that is what she’s looking for on the show.”

Tyler Cruickshank

Tyler can't make his mind up (ITV)

Croydon estate agent Tyler auditioned for Love Island because he was feeling lonely.

The 26-year-old has been single for a few years and is hoping the show can help him find his forever partner.

"I’m single and still looking for someone. I’ve been single for about three years. I kind of miss having someone there,” he said.

"It’s a good opportunity to find someone."

Tyler certainly hasn't wasted that opportunity but is now in a bit of a mess while trying to juggle Kaz and Clarisse at the same time.

Kaz Kamwi

Kaz has really had a hard time in the villa but hopefully will find Mr. Wright soon.

Not much is known about the much-loved fashion blogger's dating history, but she has described her ideal man.

"Looks-wise, really well-groomed. Someone who is driven enjoys what they’re doing, has a passion. Someone who is not overly charming, but has enough confidence," she said.

Kaz does have a self-confessed competitive streak but would never take another person's man.

"No, I’m a girl’s girl. That’s not my vibe," she stated.

Abigail Rawlings

Abi has been very calm considering what Toby has done (ITV)

Tattoo artist Abi came into the villa looking for a relationship and claimed she's not scared of commitment.

Abi has been messed around in the villa but has kept incredibly calm while dealing with Toby.

She hasn't gone into too much depth on her past relationships but revealed her celebrity crush is Justin Bieber, partly because she is attracted to how much he loves his wife Hailey.

"I want someone to love me as much as he loves Hailey," she said.

Teddy Soares

Senior financial consultant Teddy has always been in long-term romances but has never broken the three year barrier.

He's hoping that this might change if things with Faye keep going so well.

"I think I’m ready for love now. Law of attraction is probably what I believe in, so being in the villa is part of that thought process," he said before his bombshell arrival.

"I’m not getting any younger. I’ve always been the type of guy to be in long relationships. Never broken three years though. If I do find someone in the villa, I’m going to take it seriously."

Lucinda Strafford

Her time in the villa might be up but Lucinda still makes this list because of her very famous ex.

The 21-year-old claimed she was a "relationship kinda girl" before entering the villa and turning Brad and Aaron's heads.

Lucinda was previously in a relationship with Brighton & Hove Albion footballer Aaron Connolly, but there were rumours they are still together.

An insider told The Sun : "Lucinda and Aaron reconciled before she went on Love Island. It was meant to be a big secret because there are strict rules about it.

"No one wants to watch a dating show where the stars are really pining for lovers back home.

"Aaron was only too happy looking after Lucinda’s dog. It makes him feel like they are still the couple they are."

However, a source close to the show insisted that Lucinda is single.

*Love Island airs tonight on ITV at 9pm
