Love Island star Maura Higgins reveals they were often made re-shoot scenes on hit show

Love Island star Maura Higgins has revealed contestants were sometimes made re-shoot scenes on the hit series.

The Longford beauty, who now has an 'agony aunt' segment This Morning, dished the dirt in a chat with RTE before her appearance on The Late Late Show.

Confirming the hit ITV programme often made the islanders re-shoot scenes, Maura said: “Yes, yeah we did.

“Just say for instance if a text came through and you weren’t as loud or if you stumbled on your words you’d have to retake obviously.

“I mean some words I’d be like, I’d say it wrong or awww... I’d just have to do it again. That happened a lot.”

Meanwhile the model, who is currently dating dancer Curtis Pritchard, also explained how the Islanders got treated to fast food during the show.

She added: “We actually got McDonalds twice a week.

“Yeah, nobody knows that either but yeah, sushi we didn’t get any sushi and I love sushi”

Asked why she didn’t dive in when her fellow contestants did, the Ballymahon woman said: “I’m going to be honest, I was having a hair disaster.

“So one of the days in the villa I actually got a bald patch in my head and I don’t know why.

“Nobody knows this, I was really nervous about jumping in the pool because of chlorine and all that and I thought it was going to make me bald basically.

“I didn’t really want to have to deal with that so that’s why and Anna wasn’t very happy.

“But I was like, ‘I don’t want to be bald, hello, it’s my hair!’”

Spilling some more of the villa’s biggest secrets, the 28-year-old grid girl also revealed she got the whole villa in trouble with producers for “downing” everyone’s wine.

Maura said: “I should never tell, but I will.

“So, every single night in the villa some nights you get one glass of wine, some nights you get two, you either get a choice of beer or wine.

“And one night I went into the larder where the drinks get prepared and everything and there is like a water dispenser there.

“I went in before everyone else and I downed everyone’s wine and I filled it up with water and yeah I got in really big trouble.

“The whole island got punished the following night because I got really drunk.

“I shouldn’t have probably said that, I’ll get into big trouble now.”
