Love Island's Maya Jama accused of 'ruining' result ahead of ITV show's final

Maya Jama has landed in hot water with Love Island viewers as she 'ruined' the result of the final elimination on Sunday night, thanks to two 'chaotic' slip ups.

WHile it still has a loyal audience who tune in for their latest fix of villa action every night at 9pm, the latest series of the ITV dating series hasn't exactly set viewing figures alight, with ratings reported to have dipped below 800,000 last week, a big drop from the two million plus who tuned in back in 2019.

DEspite that ratings setback, new series of Love Island looks set to attract one of its highest audiences so far for the final on Monday night, which will be contested by four couples, after one time favourites Will and Jessie were given the boot right on the eve of the finale on Sunday.

After Will's misdemeanour in Casa Amor, the path of true love hasn't exactly run smoothly for farmer Will and ex Love Island Australia star Jessie, but it still came as a bit of a shock that they aren't even in the final.

The result of the last dumping played out around 10pm on Sunday but, unfortunately for the ITV2 viewers who tuned in waiting to find out the remaining couples' fate, the outcome was accidentally revealed by new Love Island presenter Maya in a brief preview for Aftersun, which directly followed the main show.

As Maya geared up to host the spin-off live from South Africa, she took to Instagram to share her excitement, but as panned the camera round, Will and JEssie were clearly seen in shot. And the many Love Island fans who follow Maya were left angry that they sat through all of Sunday's episode only to have the crucial moment spoiled by the host.

And then things got even worse when, at the final ad break, Maya announced in a clip that played out on ITV that she'd chatting to "dumped Islanders Will and Jessie".

It didn't take long for unimpressed viewers to take to Twitter to air their frustrations, with one complaining: "ITV have c**ked up big time tonight with Maya releasing who goes on her Insta story then releasing the result on the ad break before the end of the show" and a second tweeting: "someone at itv is getting fired tonight because how is maya posting the result of the dumping accidentally on her story and then exposing the result in the aftersun advert before it’s even aired. what a mess!"
