Love Island’s Jacques threatens to ‘flatten’ new boy Jay Younger after sly jibe

Love Island often sees a great degree of peacockery among the male incumbents in a bid to win over the girls. The latest episode was no different as two new people entered the villa and duly put the older islanders under pressure to up their games.

Jay Younger and Remi Lambert entered the ITV show on Tuesday evening, and it didn’t take long for battles to commence. Once they were all gathered around the firepit, Remi aimed to impress his fellow islanders with a rap, but it was Jay who was taking shots in various directions.

Notably, after asking what recent newcomer Jacques O'Neill did for a living, he issued a sly dig to the 23-year-old. Upon being told he is a rugby player, Jay suggested: “you’re a bit small for a rugby player aren’t you.”

This came after the Scottish investment analyst said: "I'm not here to make friends. I'm not here for seasonal boyfriends." Keen not to look emasculated, Jacques responded: “If you come and run at me, I’ll flatten you, so…”

Jay didn’t stop there with his criticisms of potential rivals as, later in the episode, he argued the case against being coupled up with Davide to Ekin-su, saying she could do so much better. Jay appears intent on winning over Ekin-su, later annoying Davide by recreating the infamous Lady and the Tramp scene on a date.

Not everyone was pleased with the new boy talking behind the Italian’s back, with @pxmzzz saying on Twitter: “Say that to his face Jay #LoveIsland” while @bbyjimjams was more impressed with his people reading skills: Jay reading Davide? A real man #loveisland.”

Love Island airs tonight at 9 pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
