Love Island's Amber Gill branded 'savage' for her 'ageist' comment about Callum

Love Island's Amber Gill has been branded 'savage' for suggesting that Callum Macleod is 'old' at the age of 28.

Viewers have taken the 21-year-old Geordie beauty therapist to task after she reeled at the seven-year age difference she had with Callum, after they coupled up.

The exchange came when the newly coupled up islanders were given time together to get to know each other on the ITV2 dating show.

There was consternation though after aircraft engineer Callum revealed that he was 28.

Amber shocked a nation, replying: “Ah, so you are old then.”

Callum tried to laugh it off and urged that he may 'look young for his age' but this was rebutted by Amber, who insisted that he looked every inch of his 28 years.

Of course, viewers weren't going to overlook this and branded Amber "savage" for her cutting comments.

One wrote on Twitter : "28? So you’re old then’ Amber is savage!”

Another was unimpressed with her 'ageist' comment, tweeting: "I’m 28 and I’ve never felt older. Thanks Amber.”

A third viewer has already had enough of her, tweeting: "28…. old? Amber is cancelled."

Another Love Island fan joked: “Can’t wait to be an OAP next July when I turn 28.”

One viewer saw the funny side though, suggesting that they should be cracking out the mints that are synonymous with people 'of a certain age.

They tweeted: "Can’t believe they said 28 is old on Love Island, I am 30 and almost choked on my Worthers Original,” quipped another.
