Love Island's Alex George 'splits from girlfriend' - and she's keeping their pooch

Alex George has reportedly split from his girlfriend Ellie Hetch - and she is said to be keeping their beloved pooch Freddie, despite the break-up.

The former Love Island star, 30, has been dating barrister clerk Ellie since January last year, but pals say the couple have gone separate ways.

Dr Alex only confirmed their relationship on social media in June, but it's said to be over for the pair as they struggled to make things work.

Following an emotional conversation, sources say the pair called it quits.

A friend told The Sun : "Alex and Ellie tried everything to make it work but sometimes it's just not meant to be.

"They have now gone their separate ways after a very emotional phone conversation.

"Ellie will be keeping Freddie and has moved her stuff out of Alex's new flat.

"It's heartbreaking for everyone and Alex is determined they stay friends."

Alex and Ellie have been through a lot together throughout their relationship, including the tragic loss of the frontline worker's little brother back in July.

Recently, Alex has been working on himself and has been inspiring his followers to do the same.

He hit back at cruel fat shamers in one of his latest Instagram posts, as he worked out in the gym.

Alex, who serves as the UK Youth Mental Health Ambassador, ignored the critics as he stripped topless for a mirror selfie mid-workout.

He looked great in the photo, as he showed off his body with fans.

Alex penned that he is "not ashamed anymore" over how his physique has changed since appearing on Love Island with a six-pack.

He wrote alongside the snap: "MOVEMENT IS FOR EVERY BODY. Fat shaming and weight stigma can be such a barrier to exercise. Over the years I have felt embarrassed and nervous to train in the gym when I'm bigger.

"I AM NOT ASHAMED ANYMORE. Don't forget that you deserve to be in that gym as much as anyone else. If people judge you for how you look that says far more about them than you. I know who I would rather be friends with."

Dr Alex also shared the post on his Story, thanking fans for their kind words and support.

The Mirror has contacted Alex's representative for a comment.
