Love Island's Adam Collard says Paige Thorne romance was a 'plan' for air time

Love Island's Adam Collard has brutally confessed to choosing Paige Thorne as a game plan to stay on the show for longer.

The two-time contestant, 27, first appeared on the hit ITV dating show in 2018 and made a surprise appearance last year.

The personal trainer has now admitted to appearing on the show to boost his career and would "choose the right person" in an effort to stay on longer.

"The thing with Love Island is I'm the only one who is willing to admit it, I would completely choose the right person to stay on the show," he confessed.

"That's why I got back on the show in my eyes, they realised I didn't care about anything," he told MailOnline.

The fitness guru caused major drama in 2018 and went on to have a relationship with co-star Zara McDermott, with the pair breaking up after eight months.

His villa comeback saw him couple up with Paige Thorne, but the pair split soon after leaving the show after he was accused of cheating with Adam denying he kissed someone else while they were together.

Adam admitted he found his second Love Island appearance "really hard" as he "could see through everything".

"It messes with your head, you almost convince yourself you like these people and then once you see the light and get back home you realise you aren't a perfect match," he added.

Earlier this year, Adam told The Mirror he thought Paige was "the one" until he got out of the villa.

"I have got to be honest, I genuinely did at one point think Paige was the one but when you come out it's different and it's even worse when you have been in twice," he said.

"Anyone can fall in love when you're in the sun 16 hours a day. It all changes when someone has five businesses and they come out and they're working 16-hour days."

Adam's first Love Island stint is remembered for how he split up Kendall and Niall on Love Island, and ditched Rosie for Zara, with fans fuming over his treatment of Rosie.

Speaking about how the producers worked with him on his stints, Adam said: "I was a d**k at 21 and they amplified the fact I was a d**k because I had came out of a relationship after two years and they knew they had hit the jackpot, that I wanted to go 'girl, girl, girl'.

"Now why did Adam at 26 look different? Because I wasn't in the same boat. So if you are like that they will enhance it, but they're not doing anything wrong."
