Love Island winner Greg O’Shea was told he deserved a “bullet to the head” after he split with Amber Gill.
The rugby ace, from Co Limerick, said trolls targeted him night and day as false rumours that he’d dumped her by text took hold.
He revealed: “I lost 500,000 followers. #UnfollowGreg was trending on Twitter. I try to act like a big tough man and make out it didn’t affect me, but it has to.
“I was getting death threats, people messaged me step by step telling me how to go kill myself, very dark stuff. Calling me every name under the sun.”
Greg, 25, said when trolls started targeting friends and family, even his mother Carol, it pushed him to the edge.
He said: “They were telling her ‘You gave birth to a piece of s**t’, to my mother like.
“My mates were getting messages like, ‘I think your friend deserves bullets to the head’.
“I threw myself into that world so grand, yeah, but no one in my family deserved it.”
Earlier this week, Amber told close pal Ovie Soko she does not hear from Greg.
She said: “We were just both so busy. I’m glad that it happened when it happened because we weren’t right together.
“If we saw each other I’m sure it would be fine.”
And on tomorrow’s episode of Lodging With Lucy, Greg again puts to bed rumours of dumping his show co-winner by text.

He revealed: “It wasn’t a text, it was a phone call back and forth on FaceTime. When I got home I said, ‘Amber how do you see this thing playing out?’
“I just knew in my head I didn’t see this relationship happening. I said, ‘I think we should stop before it gets too deep’.”
Greg dishes the dirt on his time in the Love Island villa, revealing that contestants were each paid just £250 a week.
And he says he’s glad he turned his back on the vacuous ‘red carpet’ world in order to chase his dream of playing rugby in the Olympics.
He said: “People think I’m really loaded but I threw away that golden ticket when I decided not to move to London.
“The Olympics is the dream and I’d also like to do a website or an app to do with fitness.
“I’d like to be married and starting a family by the time I’m 30.”
- Lodging With Lucy is on Virgin Media One tomorrow at 9pm.
