Love Island fans slam Dami as he comforts Paige after egging on 'cheat' Jacques

Love Island fans were not impressed with Dami Hope, as he comforted Paige Thorne over her heartbreak - despite having encouraged her partner Jacques O'Neill to play away.

Paige was initially thrilled when she walked back into the villa during the Casa Amor recoupling on Thursday, as she learned Jacques had seemingly stayed loyal.

But her joy was cut short, when bombshell Cheyanne Kerr dropped the news that they had been getting cosy while she was in the other villa.

Cheyanne was furious that Jacques ditched her last minute, and when asked about her time in the villa she soon spilled the beans.

Paige was clearly devastated as Jacques tried to defend his actions, and only made matters worse as he began shouting before commenting that "they were both single".

In the latest episode, picking up after Paige stormed off, there were more tears as Paige reeled from what went down.

Jacques was left sobbing as he hinted at an exit from the villa, and realised he'd screwed things with Paige.

But it was the fact Dami raced to comfort Paige that left viewers furious, given he laughed days ago when Jacques vowed to "test himself" by getting to know the other girls.

As Jacques shared the fact he was going to kiss Cheyanne, Dami and the boys egged him on and applauded his behaviour, even defending it as "a test".

Dami actually continued to defend Jacques as Paige tearfully confided in him, and she was not impressed.

Viewers were also slamming him, as he kept repeating Jacques was testing himself and now knew what he wanted was Paige.

Knowing what he'd been up to, fans took to Twitter to call him out for supporting Paige when just days ago, he laughed about Jacques not respecting her.

One fan said: "Dami was Jacques right hand man when they were doing the most with the new girls & now he’s comforting Paige."

Another agreed: "Dami has a cheek comforting Paige when he was egging jacques on the whole time, disgusting."

A third fan said: "dami how can you sit there knowing you was encouraging him?" as a fourth tweeted: "Dami being Paige’s confidant whilst also laughing with Jacques about mugging her off? Ewwwwwww."

It follows Thursday’s brutal Casa Amor recoupling, that left four couples in tatters and six Islanders axed.

Initially only three couples were torn apart, but later revelations caused heartbreak for another pair - and threatened to destroy a fifth couple too.

First up was Jay Younger, who was paired up with Danica Taylor but as a friendship - so he decided to bring new girl Chyna Mills into the villa.

As Danica returned she too had recoupled, and brought new boy Josh Samuel Le Grove with her.

The recouplings didn't stop there though, with Dami Hope choosing new girl Summer Botwe over Indiyah Polack.

But Indiyah didn't return alone, as she was joined by Casa Amor bombshell Deji Adeniyi.

Another split saw Andrew Le Page decide to go with new girl Coco Lodge, and his words left some of his co-stars very unimpressed.

Tasha Ghouri returned to see Andrew had recoupled, but so had she as she brought in new boy Billy Brown.

Two others couples, asides Jacques and Paige, did survive Casa Amor, as Luca Bish and Gemma Owen stayed loyal to each other.

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti also stuck together, but they could have moments from Casa Amor that might return to haunt them.

New girl Mollie Salmon outed Davide for kissing her, and Ekin-Su was outraged - but they seemed to get back on track.

Meanwhile, Jack, George, Samuel, Jazmine, Mollie and Cheyanne were all dumped then and there on the spot.

Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
