Love Island fans beg for format change as viewers brand recoupling 'useless'

Love Island's latest recoupling aired tonight - but fans were begging for a format change after branding it 'useless'.

It was the girl's turn to pick, but with the final just days away, it's all to play for - and this recoupling had the potential to cause some drama as there were six people single in the villa including four new bombshells no doubt keen to make it to the final next week.

As the recoupling began, the original girls were able to pick first - but fans took to social media to slam the format, calling it "boring" and "useless", as they begged for more drama.

As expected, Tasha chose Andrew and Indiyah coupled back up with Dami, as he made a joke about her getting his name right this time after making two mistakes previously and calling him Deji. Luca and Gemma coupled back up, as the international dressage rider spoke of her excitement at doing all those things they had spoken about outside the villa.

Paige chose Adam, just hours after they decided to make it "exclusive without the label", whilst it was left to the new arrivals to make their choice. Lacey chose to couple up with Deji, praising him for being so funny.

Danica was next to pick - and she was ready to put an end to her "crazy journey" and opted for footballer Jamie. Ekin-Su picked next and she went for Davide, as she admitted to her "mistakes".

"Good things take time," she said, before joking: "Rome wasn't built in a day."

Last to go was Nathalia, and she had no choice but to pick Reece.

Frustrated fans took to social media to fume over the scenes that played out - insisting it wasn't dramatic enough.

"It should be the rule that anyone new picks first, then anyone not in a serious couple, then the solid couples. Like I'm not suggesting anyone would want to pick Andrew or Luca but there’s no way to know because they let them go first. #loveisland," one wrote.

But a recoupling is looming... (ITV)

Another added: "And here we go, another pointless vote off when the new ones haven’t even settled in or been given a chance. Lets guess who’s leaving…. shouldn’t be hard #LoveIsland."

A third shared: "what’s the point of the recouping.. poor Reece and Natalia over before its started #LoveIsland," with a fourth writing: "You know a recoupling is boring when they don’t drag it over two episodes #loveisland."

Love Island aired some dramatic scenes tonight as Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Nathalia Campos clashed in a fiery row, but they decided to settle it in the most unusual way - a cook off judged by Davide Sanclimenti.

The pair saw to the end of their war of words with a pancake cooking competition, but not before they got caught up in an angry exchange, with Ekin-Su saying to Nathalia: "Do you know what I’ve learnt my love, the best way to end an argument is cooking, so you can prove to me with your pancakes my love, to see how good you are."

"I don’t need to prove anything babe, honestly who are you for me to prove anything?" the content creator replied, as Ekin-Su then fumed back: "I am Ekin-Su babe and there's only one of me."

Nathalia then replied: "Who is that to me? Who is that to me though, Ekin-who..?"

Luca Bish then announced it all to the villa, adding: "It ends in the kitchen, tomorrow morning, be there, Turkey vs Brazil, as Nathalia then laughed and joked back: "The battle of the pancakes."
