Love Island fans have gone wild after Toby's Irish mammy made her debut in the villa.
After months away from home spent cut off from the real world in the villa, there were plenty of tears and emotional reunions last night as the islanders were reunited with their families in the annual ‘Meet the parents’ episode.
All from a distance, however, due to strict social distancing protocols in place throughout the series.
But it was Toby’s mum Victoria’s Irish brogue that got people all hot and bothered at home - as viewers went wild at learning the finalist’s Mayo roots.
His official Instagram account confirmed the news, writing; “Toby’s mum is indeed Irish. She’s from a place called Mayo! For everyone asking.”
Toby’s Twitter account, which is being managed by family, added: “A lot of people saying they love the fact Toby’s mum is from Mayo, the West Coast of Ireland! We see you guys.”
Former contestant Matthew MacNabb from Co. Down celebrated Victoria's arrival on Instagram, writing: "Tbf we do have some Irish representation on Love Island still! @tobyaromolaran mum is from Mayo."
Delighted by the revelation, one fan wrote: “Can’t cope with Toby’s Mam being from Mayo, we can now claim him as our own.”
“My winner of Love Island 2021, the Mayo man Toby. knew he had a big Irish head on him #LoveIsland,” another excited fan said.
Meanwhile others got excited about his winning chances ahead of Mayo’s bid for the All Ireland football title next month, with one saying: “No but imagine if Mayo wins Love Island through Toby’s mam AND the All Ireland, damnnn.”
“Great that Toby will be out of #LoveIsland in time to watch Mayo in the final,” another added.
Others chimed in: “Mayo for Sam. Toby for $50K.”
Another said: "Toby's mum inviting Chloe over for a Sunday roast is the most Irish thing ever."
Toby broke down in tears when he saw his mum and his sister Shauna in the penultimate episode of the eight-week series on Sunday night.
Toby's mum also began to cry as she said: "I've missed you so much!"
The reality star also became emotional as he replied: "No, stop! Mum, stop. I haven't cried once here and now I'm crying!"
But some joked that his tears were also Mayo football related, with one saying: “Toby is clearly crying because Mayo beat Dublin.”
Despite a rocky start, the footballer has become a fan favourite since he decided to re-couple with Chloe after coupling up with two other women, Abi and Mary, whilst also dating Kaz briefly at the start.
The Love Island final will air Monday 23 August at 9pm on Virgin Media One.
