Love Island 2023 vote twist as finalists reveal postponed

The Love Island final is almost upon us – airing on Monday, March 13 – and Friday night saw the final five couples discover who their fellow islanders thought were the least compatible. In a Love Island first show bosses revealed earlier this week that the Islanders would have to vote for their least compatible couple while on their final dates.

The shock twist means the pairs with the most votes are vulnerable and at risk of being dumped before the final. Friday's episode saw that after the contestants had their say the final word is given to the fans to vote for the couple they want out before the final.

The final two couples returned from their fancy dates and Lana received a text for all the Islanders to gather around the firepit for the big reveal. Once gathered around the fire pit the Islanders received another text which said: “Islanders, as you know on your final dates you had to decide which couple you think is the least compatible. The couples voted least compatible are ....”

The couples who received the most votes were:

  • Jessie and Will - two votes
  • Lana and Ron - two votes
  • Sanam and Kai - one vote
The Islanders gather at the fire pit: Kai Fagan, Sanam Harrinanan, Shaq Muhammad, Tanya Manhenga, Will Young, Jessie Wynter, Ron Hall, Lana Jenkins, Tom Clare and Samie Elishi (ITV/REX/Shutterstock)

The villa then slept on the vote result as Ron and Lana and Jessie and Will confessed to each other they picked each couple as the least compatible. Viewers now will have their say on who will exit before Monday's big finale and pick their least favourite couple, the results of which we will see on Sunday night.

The news comes after Jessie Wynter and Will Young went on their final date at a barn dance with horses, chickens, and goats and Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan enjoy a date at a stunning location complete with sweeping staircases and candles as they were treated to music by a pianist. The couples' date follows Lana and Ron, Samie and Tom, and Tanya and Shaq enjoying their final dates on Thursday, March 9. You can read more on this episode here.

Love Island continues Sunday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
