Love Island 2023: Tyrique Hyde's football career, Premier League dad and Love Island 'best friend'

Going into the Love Island villa can be daunting as many hope to find true love. However, for Tyrique Hyde, who is the second contestant to be announced for summer Love Island 2023, he might have a bit of a head start.

The semi-professional footballer from Essex is "best friends" with a former Islander. He is very close with Toby Aromolaran, who entered the villa in series seven and made it to the final with his now ex-girlfriend Chloe Burrows.

Tyrique said: "Toby Aromolaran is one of my best friends, we grew up together and were in the same class at school." Like Toby, Tyrique is also a semi-professional football player.

He plays for Lewes FC in central midfield, after leaving Dartford FC in 2022. He also has a famous footballing dad, Micah Hyde, who played for Watford in the Premier League. Micah is now head coach for Queens Park Rangers Under 18s.

Speaking about what he will bring to the villa, Tyrique said: "I’ll bring vibes, confidence, good energy and honesty. I don’t sit on the fence, if I have an opinion I will speak up. I’m also not afraid to go after what I want."

Tyrique is also deaf in his right ear and explained the meaningful tattoo he had next to his left ear. He said: "I’m deaf in my right ear. I’ve got a tattoo next to my left one that symbolises strength and power in my good one."

Love Island will return to ITV2 and ITVX on Monday, June 5, where Maya Jama will be hosting the show and Ian Stirling will be back for the voiceover. You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.
