Love Island 2023 start date countdown begins as ITV2 viewers realise it's just weeks away

Love Island fans have just realised that the 2023 summer series is just around the corner. While ITV are yet to share an official start date, the popular dating show is set to kick off in June with a new line-up of singletons.

It comes hot on the heels of the winter version of Love Island, which aired in South Africa with new host Maya Jama in January, and only crowned its winners, Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan, during the final in March.

However, the summer series is just weeks away with ITV confirming its return next month. The new season will take place in Mallorca with host Maya, who made her debut in South Africa, returning to present the programme.

A synopsis reads: "This summer Love Island is back in Mallorca and set to return for its tenth sizzling series, as a host of new singletons seek to find love.

"Returning to ITV2 and ITVX, the Islanders must do their best to flirt, date, couple up, and in a bid to avoid being ‘dumped’ from the Island. With new arrivals, heads may turn, while others will prove their true feelings. From romance and heart-to-hearts to betrayal, bombshells and broken hearts, there’s never a dull moment in the ultimate search for love.

"More texts, fire pit gatherings and challenges await the lovestruck Islanders, meaning there’ll be plenty for them to dish the dirt on in the Beach Hut. Twists and turns will follow every step of the way, with shock recouplings, unexpected breakups and dramatic dumpings.

"As the couples attempt to win the hearts of each other – and the public – one couple will ultimately triumph and be crowned Love Island winners for Summer 2023."

Realising the start date is just around the corner, many have taken to Twitter. One wrote: "We're not actually that far off #LoveIsland starting again soon if you think about it."

While another added: "Wait isn't #LoveIsland starting soon???" and a third commented: "Love island is back next month?? Thank God we need to cleanse our eyes from the disaster that was this past winter season."

While an official start date hasn't been confirmed, it's likely to kick off in early June as the 2022 summer series started on June 6. However, in 2021 the programme started later, airing on June 28. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
