The countdown for the new series of Love Island is officially on, with ITV confirming that the show will return to screens on June 6.

A message from the show’s official Twitter account read: “Here’s your first hot date of the summer #LoveIsland is back Monday 6th June on @itv2 and @itvhub!”

Little is currently known about the upcoming seventh series of Love Island.

TV executives have confirmed, however, the new series of the popular dating reality TV show will be filmed in a new villa.

A statement read: “The ultimate Summer of love is on the horizon as Love Island makes it’s long awaited return, direct from a brand new villa in Mallorca.

“Applications are currently open for singletons looking for a long, hot Summer…”

Many of the stars have launched their own showbiz careers after starring on the show, including the likes of Molly-Mae Hague and Maura Higgins.

She took on the role after her friend and the former host of the show Caroline Flack took her own life aged 40 in February 2020.

Last week, it was confirmed that Love Island has ditched fast fashion sponsors such as ISawItFirst and Missguided in favour of sustainable fashion and has partnered with eBay UK.

“As a show we strive to be a more eco-friendly production with more focus on ways in which we can visibly show this on screen,” said Mike Spencer, the show’s executive producer in a statement. “We aim to inspire our demographic and show that there are incredible finds to be had and how sharing is, in some small way, caring.”
