Two late goals, including an own goal from Louis Laing, handed Dundee United their first three points of the Premiership season with a 2-0 win at Motherwell.

Laing sliced Paul Dixon’s low cross inside the near post to hand United the advantage after 83 minutes at Fir Park.

The home goalkeeper, Connor Ripley, made some impressive saves in a tight match, but he was caught up the pitch after an injury-time corner and on the break Simon Murray scored his first goal for United. His side join Motherwell on three points two weeks into the campaign.

A first-half double from Craig Curran inspired Ross County to their first points of the new season in a comfortable 2-0 victory over Hamilton at Victoria Park.

Curran punished Accies from five yards out early on after a goalmouth scramble and he struck again for Jim McIntyre’s side when he was well positioned to convert a Marcus Fraser cutback four minutes from the interval.

The hosts sat on their lead in the second half as Hamilton, who had passed-up an early penalty when the home keeper, Scott Fox, made up for conceding the penalty by saving Ali Crawford’s kick. Accies, just like last week, lacked a cutting edge.

The St Johnstone substitute Graham Cummins earned a point for his side against Inverness as a late header ensured a 1-1 draw at McDiarmid Park.

Ryan Christie’s fifth-minute strike at McDiarmid Park looked to have given Caley Thistle their first win of the season. Christie cut in from the left hand side and struck home from 15 yards past Alan Mannus.

But Cummins added to his goal in last week’s 4-3 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle when he nodded home Joe Shaughnessy’s cross with the equaliser seconds from the end.

Despite dominating possession for the majority of play Caley could not capitalise with goals. Christie came closest when he spotted Mannus off his line and attempted a strike, with the keeper saving expertly.
