Lotus revs up for future growth

LOTUS has further outlined its ongoing route to future success with a series of ambitious plans.

First up, the iconic British sports car brand’s final purely petrol-powered car has been given the name Emira.

Only known until now by its codename Type 131, full details will be revealed on July 6 – but it features a design inspired by the new electric Evija hypercar.

Lotus also announced it has created four new vehicle platforms – Sports, Hypercar, Premium and E-Sports – for the next generation of cars.

Of particular interest is the Premium set-up, which will allow the marque to create a range of lifestyle-centred machines that have a broader appeal.

The company is also focussing on development in three core areas: performance, intelligent technology and sustainability, with a new centre set to open in Warwickshire.

As part of developments, Lotus is also partnering with what3words so that the Evija, Emira and future models will feature the precise location/navigation technology.

Lotus will also be transforming its showrooms across the globe and ramping up its digital offering for customers.

Group boss Feng Qinfeng said: “We have seen the expansion of our global landscape, while remaining true to the original intention of the brand, namely that we are ‘For the Drivers’.

“Now it’s time for more people to enjoy more products and services from Lotus.”
