Lost East Lothian budgie reunited with owners after flying 200 miles to England

An East Lothian budgie was found over 200 miles from it's home after it had managed to escape its owners.

The adorable yellow bird, Jack, was discovered in Yorkshire after the adventurous pet had been able to get out of his family home in Prestonpans.

Devastating his owners at the time, the family had believed that the bird would be long gone after realising he was missing on April 16.

However, in an odd turn of events, little Jack was found down south after he had managed to fly an impressive distance of over 200 miles.

According to the Record, the family had initially posted on social media locally to ask for help finding Jack, but had quickly accepted he would not be making his way back to them.

Five weeks later, they were stunned to be contacted by a man south of the border, who had spotted Jack near some wild birds.

Taking him under his wing, the man had searched for anyone missing the budgie, and had miraculously found the family.

An update on the Edinburgh based page by 'Mickey Moo' who originally made an appeal for Jack on behalf of her mum, said: "Thanks everyone for sharing.

"After 5 weeks and thinking we'd never get her back. Jack is on her way home

"She has been on a massive adventure and made it all the way to Yorkshire.

"She has a few wee scratches and seems to have gotten herself into a bit of a war with a few wild birds, but apart from that she was happy to be reunited.

"Her other half Viktor is at home waiting for her to get back from her adventures."
