Los Angeles given poor odds to host 2022 NFL draft

The NFL announced last week that the 2021 NFL draft will be held in Cleveland, followed by Kansas City hosting the big event in 2023. The year in-between those two (2022) was given a “TBD” designation as the league has yet to decide where the draft will be held that year.

Many speculated that Los Angeles could be the top choice, given the fact that the new stadium in Inglewood – which will also house NFL Network – is opening in 2020. However, that may not be the case.

According to BetOnline.AG, Los Angeles was given 100/1 odds to host the 2022 NFL draft. That’s the worst of any city on the list, tied with Indianapolis, Nashville and New Orleans.

Nashville just hosted the draft this year, so it’s unlikely the league would go back to the (albeit great) city just three years later. Indianapolis hosts the NFL combine, but that agreement was only extended through 2021, so the combine could move the following year. Would that open the door for Indy to host the draft?

It’s unclear when the NFL will announce the host city for the 2022 draft, but don’t rule Los Angeles out yet. Holding the extravaganza at the new complex in Inglewood is likely to happen at some point, it’s just a matter of when.
