Lorry driver arrested after being 'under influence of drugs' on Queensferry Crossing

A lorry driver was arrested after being caught with cannabis on the Queensferry Crossing, police have said.

The driver was reported by a member of the public and officers attended to find the male under the influence of the Class-B drug.

When the 52-year-old man was drug tested, the results came back as positive and police are now awaiting blood test results.

He has since been arrested after the incident as officers also confiscated a quantity of cannabis from him.

Road Policing Scotland confirmed the incident on Twitter and thanked the concerned member of the public who reported the driver.

They said: "Thanks to a report from a member of the public, #FifeRP stopped this lorry driver going over the Queensferry Crossing today. The 52-year-old male driver tested positive for Cannabis and was arrested. We're now awaiting the blood test results. #DriveSmart #Fatal5."

Social media users also praised the member of the public who reported the crime.

One said: "A lorry driver, driver under the in influence of drugs sounds so scary. Well done to the member of the public."
