ITV Lorraine show presents brave Scots schoolgirl with bike to celebrate cancer remission

Falkirk schoolgirl Mila Sneddon couldn't contain her joy when Lorraine's Doctor Hilary presented her with a special gift to celebrate beating cancer.

The youngster, now aged seven, became one of the iconic faces of the coronavirus lockdown after an image of her waving to dad Scott through the window of her home went viral.

She was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a type of blood cancer, when she was four years old.

Medics broke the devastating news just months before pandemic restrictions were introduced across the globe.

Last week little Mila rang the bell at the Team Jack Cancer Centre to mark the end of her treatment.

The Record previously reported how proud mum Lynda revealed online that her girl had finally entered remission after more than three years fighting the disease.

Yesterday her big sister Jodi praised her brave sibling's resilience and said it means "more than anyone can know" to see MIla beat cancer.

And this morning, wee Mila was presented with a pink bike by the Lorraine Show when she appeared remotely with Lynda to share her brilliant news.

The plucky young Scot was visibly over the moon but admitted she would have "loved' a day off to have properly celebrated her remission.

But she said she was happy enough to return to school to ring the bell in front of her classmates instead.

Mila said: "They clapped for me because they were happy for me I was finishing my treatment."

Asked if anyone interesting had got in touch with her during her health battle, Mila referenced Ant and Dec, who sent her a congratulatory message.

She also mentioned Prince William and Kate Middleton who had also met with her after she enjoyed a tea with the Duchess of Cambridge at Holyrood House in March 2021, and mentioned her in a book

When Lorraine host Ranvir Singh said she had a surprise for Mila before Doctor Hilary appeared with the cycle for her to ride, Mila exclaimed: "I love it."

Dr Hilary said he'd road tested the bike he presented to Mila (Lorraine)

Doctor Hilary replied: "It rides really well."

And Ranvir suggested he ride it "all the way" home.

Discussing the signs of leukaemia, Hilary said to look out for children who have anaemia, and are prone to bruising and lots of infections.
