- Christine Lampard has announced that the ITV programme Lorraine will be off-air for an extended period, with Lorraine Kelly expected to return in “a few weeks”.
- Lampard made the announcement as she deputised for Kelly on Friday, following Ben Shephard who had covered the show the previous day.
- Earlier in the week, viewers expressed concern as Kelly appeared unwell and sounded notably hoarse during broadcasts.
- Despite reassuring viewers that she wasn’t infectious, her condition worsened throughout the week.
- Shephard informed audiences that Kelly was unable to speak on Thursday and was only able to utter “a few squeaks here and there”.
