Loose Women star rolls eyes as 'sensitive' panel call Hugh Grant 'mean' for cringe interview

Loose Women’s Janet Street-Porter rolled her eyes at her co-hosts as they criticised Hugh Grant for his behaviour during an interview with Ashley Graham on the Oscars red carpet.

The Four Weddings and a Funeral actor appeared deeply disinterested with the chat at the 95th Academy Awards, as he threw up roadblocks to each of the model's questions.

The ITV show then played a clip of the interview, which saw Ashley ask the 62-year-old what he was most excited to see at the ceremony but a confused Grant hit back that he wasn't particularly looking forward to any award.

Attempting to get something out of the interview, she continued: "What are you wearing?" But Hugh simply replied: "My suit."

In a last-ditch attempt, she asked about his brief role in Rian Johnson's murder mystery Glass Onion, saying: “What was it like to be in Glass Onion? How fun is it to shoot something like that?”

“Well I'm barely in it, I was in it for about three seconds," Hugh replied, shutting her down.

"It still must have been fun though, you had fun right?" she then replied but once again the actor mustered up an uncomfortable response and said: "Erm... almost."

Host Ruth Langsford and Katie Piper in the ITV studio both took issue with the legendary actor’s ‘mean’ responses to her enthusiastic questioning.

But Janet proudly exclaimed she ‘loved’ it and took it as a stab at irony, saying: “That’s what he’s like. He’s got a dry sense of humour. He’s a bit of a curmudgeon – I don't think that’s news to anyone.”

She then asked her fellow panellists: “And we still love him, don’t we?” but neither Katie nor Ruth were in agreement as they labelled it awkward.

Ruth rolled her eyes as she insisted: “You two are so hyper-sensitive.”

But Katie was adamant, saying: “No, I’m really cross at him, because I love Ashley Graham. I think she's a trailblazer in body positivity.

“She was obviously squirming there and he was being mean. He could just have bought the energy, played the game.

“If you don’t like surface frivolous questions, don’t go to frivolous events,” she concluded, to an applause from the live audience in the studio.

Ruth echoed Katie, adding: “That to me was awkward for her. I felt for her. She’s asking about your film you’re supposed to be promoting.

“If it was meant to be humorous, I didn't think it came across as humorous. You’re not there to do an in depth interview.

“If that’s how you feel, don’t do them. Don’t walk the red carpet, just go in and sit down if you don’t want to partake.”
