Loose Women's Denise Welch celebrates 11 years of sobriety with before and after pics

Denise Welch shared a before and after shot of herself as she celebrated 11 years of sobriety from alcohol.

The Loose Women panellist walked away from alcohol more than a decade ago following a long 15-year battle with the disease.

The former Coronation Street actress shared an update on her sobriety with fans on Instagram as she opened up about the challenges she faced.

Posting alongside an incredible before and after shot of herself, she wrote: "11 yrs sober today!!! Giving up my disastrous relationship with alcohol changed my life, my husband's life and my children’s lives. Plus the lives of all who love me.

"It wasn’t easy. Addiction is a cruel and frightening illness. But together @lincolntownley and I realised that we were destroying many lives including our own and we did it.

"I now have a wonderful marriage that is the foundation of my life. Our kids are happy and I hope those of you struggling find the strength to stop. If alcohol no longer makes you happy, if your (sic) drinking makes others lives miserable it’s time to stop.

"There is help there if you need it"

Many were quick to congratulate the star on her journey.

Hannah Waddingham wrote: "Fabulous post and even more fabulous you. My deepest respect, love and congratulations to you,you lovely, talented, gorgeous lady. Han. XxXXXXX"

Will Venus added: "I am so proud of you, Denise. It's so tough giving up alcohol (especially if you're dependent on it). I'll be 7 years sober next month and it's one of my proudest, ongoing achievements. Really love listening to your podcast btw"

And fellow presenter Ruth Langsford penned: "You’re amazing and such a great help to others "

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
