Looking for work? There's a massive jobs fair at Silverlink in North Tyneside on Thursday

Scores of jobs will be up for grabs at a recruitment fair in North Tyneside.

The event, which will take place at the Odeon Cinema at the Silverlink Shopping Park on Thursday, will feature a number of top employers.

Among those looking for new staff, from entry level to management roles, will be Bella Italia, Frankie & Benny’s, JD, M&S, McDonald’s, New Look, Nando’s, Odeon, One Below and Wren Kitchens.

A similar jobs fair was held last autumn and proved to be a success. More than 500 people attended and hundreds of applications were made on the day.

The latest event, running from 11am to 2pm, is being hosted as part of the Recruit Silverlink initiative - a free recruitment programme set up by The Crown Estate, which owns the shopping park.

Michael Bell, asset manager of the retail park, said: "We are delighted that the recruitment event is back for a second year.

"Feedback from last year's fair showed that both the recruiters and the people looking for jobs relished the opportunity to talk face to face.

"Recruit Silverlink works with employers and agencies – including North Tyneside Council - to match local job seekers with vacancies, provide businesses with skilled, job-ready candidates and also offer ongoing support including training programmes and workplace mentoring.

"The scheme is a part of The Crown Estate's commitment to supporting and working within the local area. The initiative helps connect talented people with the right roles and supports our retail businesses at Silverlink Shopping Park to find and train the staff they need.

"We look forward to seeing potential candidates coming along on October 10 to find their next role."

Claire Dunn, the council's employment and skills programme manager, added: "North Tyneside Council is delighted to be working in partnership with The Crown Estate to deliver the Silverlink Shopping Park Jobs Fair once again.

"Silverlink Shopping Park is a great place to work, dine and shop with its excellent transport links and big-name brands.

"The fair is well-timed to coincide with the peak Christmas recruitment. It is a superb opportunity for some of the borough’s biggest retailers to showcase their opportunities and tap into our local talent pool.

"Our residents have the chance to interact directly with the businesses before the hiring process begins, helping them to understand the expectations of the roles and the company culture.

"I'd encourage any job seekers to come along and see what's on offer."
