Longwell Green Asda workers left with head injuries after assault

Two supermarket workers were left with head injuries after being assaulted earlier today. One of the Asda workers had to be taken to hospital as a result of this.

The assault happened at the Asda in Longwell Green shortly after 1pm today (July 19) and the offender left the scene shortly after the incident. Officers are now reviewing CCTV and will be speaking to witnesses.

Asda has said it does not tolerate violence towards staff and will be working closely with the police.

A spokeswoman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Shortly after 1pm today we received a call from a member of the public who had witnessed two members of staff at Asda in Longwell Green being assaulted.

“The offender left the scene shortly after the incident. Both victims sustained head injuries and one was taken to hospital by ambulance.

“Officers will be reviewing CCTV and speaking to witnesses as part of their investigation.”

"We will be working closely with the Avon and Somerset Police in their investigations and will be providing all of the support we can support we can to both of the injured colleagues, as well as anybody else who needs support following this incident.’’
