London has been named the top UK destination for hen and stag dos, according to new research into the best British cities for nearly-wed partygoers.
According to a study put together by Locals Insider, the capital city was ranked the best UK destination to let your hair down one last time before officially tying the knot.
In a survey of more than 2,000 people, London came out on top with more than a quarter of respondents naming it the best spot to celebrate a stag do.
A further 20.7% of voters agreed that London was also the place to be for hen dos as well.
While northern cities like Manchester are often touted as go-to destinations for hen and stag parties due to their lively nightlife, including Canal Street and the Northern Quarter, voters actually placed the North West powerhouse in second place.
Newcastle and Liverpool took third and fourth place respectively for stag dos, meanwhile, the hens prefer Liverpool and Brighton.
“Stag and hen celebrations have become a rite of passage in British culture, but the title for the ultimate stag or hen location up and down the UK has long been up for debate – which is why we’ve given the UK public the final say,” said Martin Danemaq.
“While there may be an eclectic mix of options across the British Isles for us all to discover, it seems there’s no beating a good, old-fashioned night out in London, with our voters crowning the UK capital the ultimate destination for both stag and hen dos with 28.7% and 20.7% of the vote respectively.
Martin continued: “For those looking for something different, it’s Manchester that’s second best among the British public with the northwest city taking the runners-up spot across both categories, although the likes of Newcastle, Liverpool, Brighton and Edinburgh also proved popular.”
But what inspired voters’ partying preferences? According to 32%, the overall price of a hen or stag do was the most important, closely followed by nightlife, weather and the quality of food.
