London violence: Two men fighting for life after brawl breaks out in High Holborn

Two men are fighting for life after being stabbed in a brawl in central London.

A crime scene remained in place in High Holborn on Sunday morning after violence broke out in the early hours.

Police were alerted by the London Ambulance Service at about 3.15am that two men, aged 27 and 24, had self-presented at hospital with stab wounds.

The older man is in a life-threatening condition, while the other victim did not suffer serious injures.

Shortly after at 3.30am, officers stopped on Clerkenwell Road after seeing a car parked with its hazard lights on.

They found two 25-year-old men suffering stab injuries. Officers gave first aid before paramedics arrived.

One of the men remains in a critical condition in hospital. The other has since been discharged and arrested on suspicion of GBH.

Detectives believe the four men’s injuries are linked and came from the fight that broke out in High Holborn.

The latest violence comes hours after five men were shot in seven hours in three separate attacks across the capital.

Elsewhere a man was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in grocery store in Archway on Saturday evening.

Officers were called to Junction Road at about 6.45pm and found a man in his thirties suffering knife wounds.

He was taken to hospital where police await an update on his condition. One man has been arrested in connection with the attack.

Last month was the deadliest month of the year so far in London, with 15 murders recorded across the capital.
