London Tube strikes latest: Capital braces for second walkout as Khan urges RMT to return to negotiating table

  • Sadiq Khan has urged RMT union bosses to return to the negotiating table. The London Mayor told BBC London Radio yesterday: “Another strike is planned on Thursday and there is still time for RMT to call that off.”
  • Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union walked out on Tuesday and will strike again on Thursday.
  • Travellers can expect virtually no service before 6.30am, or after 9pm on Thursday. There will be significant disruption in the morning, afternoon and evening.
  • Transport for London says the strikes will affect the entire Tube network, with no service on the Piccadilly and Circle lines.
  • Conservative MP Gareth Bacon criticised Sadiq Khan, blaming him for the RMT strikes and accusing him of failing to deliver on his pledge of “zero” strike days.
