London's streets are paved with gold in Ewan David Eason’s new exhibition

The streets of London are paved with gold in a new art show opening next month.

Ewan David Eason used gold and silver leaf to trace roads and pinpoint buildings in the capital in a series of pictures for his new exhibition Sacred Sceneries.

Another work, London Fields, transforms a humble map into a light box recalling a stained glass window, while he also illuminates maps of mountain ranges from Snowdonia to the Lake District.

Lily Ackerman, who is putting on the show at the After Nyne Gallery in Holland Park, said the London-based artist’s attempts to preserve “change and flux have never been more important”.

She said: “In these rapidly changing times the link to home and the known anchors us. We love the personal reflection in all of Ewan’s work’.
