A Lockerbie man is fundraising to bring a new community defibrillator to the town after helping to save a man’s life.
Kenny Henry launched a JustGiving page on Thursday to pay for the medical equipment after Steve Cowie collapsed in the town in February.
Crichton Trust staff member Kenny and off-duty nurse Julie Carruthers performed CPR for 20 minutes until an ambulance arrived, twice using a defibrillator from the nearby Lockerbie ice rink.
Steve survived and has since had a heart bypass operation.
Kenny’s JustGiving page reads: “The reaction since Thursday has been excellent it’s really taken off.
“The Lockerbie community and defibrillator saved Steve’s life, and his employers kindly have gifted Lockerbie a new defibrillator which is proudly situated on the wall of D&W Ironmongery at the bottom side of the town.
“We would like to grow on this and site another defibrillator at this side of the town as without doubt, it saved Steve’s life.”
The 55-year-old added: “Lockerbie is an amazing community who always come together, please if you can help in any way donate to this page, we honestly never know when we might need this amazing lifesaving piece of equipment, it really does save lives.
