Lockdown Ireland: Level 5+ and 'tighter restrictions' warns top doc after spotting problem in eerie Dublin photo

A top doc has warned that "tighter lockdown restrictions" are needed for Ireland after spotting a problem while driving in Dublin.

Maitiu O' Tuathail, known as 'DrZeroCraic' on Twitter, was in his car in the capital on Friday night when he got stuck in "bumper to bumper" traffic.

He believes that the country is not taking current restrictions seriously backing it up with the latest Covid case and death statistics angrily blasting that "something has got to give".

Dr O' Tuathail said: "Level 5 restrictions? What level 5 restrictions?

"Bumper to bumper traffic in Dublin this evening.

"50 deaths and 3,500 cases also in Ireland this evening.

"Something tells me we will be facing tighter restrictions imminently [because] something has got to give."

It comes as Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said people could have to prove they’ve had a Covid-19 vaccine to get on a plane or go to the pub.

The Fianna Fail leader said it all has to be worked out but he thinks it will be important for people to have a certification to show they’ve had a jab.

When asked if he sees Covid-19 vaccine passports being introduced in order for people to travel or attend matches or go to the pub, Mr Martin said: “I think that’s all.. to be honest to be worked out.

“It could, but I think people having validation or certification that you have had a vaccine will be important just as for now we’re referring people to have negative PCR tests before they arrive into the country.

“So yes, one could see that happening.

“But what I would say is by July I think we would have a substantial number of members of our population, citizens, vaccinated.

“And I think the world will be a different place but it is very, very challenging and it is very worrying about mutations, what they may do to the flow of the vaccine and so on so we have to be careful in projecting far out.”
