LOCKDOWN: Here's all you need to know as Lanarkshire prepares for an easing of restrictions

Lanarkshire is preparing to enter Level 2 of lockdown rules next week.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is expected to make an announcement this week to confirm the easing of restrictions, following a review of cases.

The changes are scheduled to take place from Monday, May 17.

Level 2 will see restaurants, cafés, pubs and bars across Lanarkshire reopen with ability to serve alcohol until 10.30pm with two-hour pre-booked slots.

People will also be allowed in each others' homes, with a limit of four people from two households permitted.

Local cinemas, theatres, concert halls, music venues, comedy clubs and bingo halls will be able to welcome back Lanarkshire residents.

These will still require restrictions to be in place.

Small outdoor and indoor events may be able to resume, subject to capacity limits.

Six people from three households can also meet in an indoor public space, while eight adults from eight households can meet outdoors.

Level 2 changes

The following changes will come into effect from May 17:

  • Restrictions on outdoor social gatherings to ease further
  • 4 adults from 2 households in your home or theirs – and can stay overnight
  • 6 adults from 3 households in an indoor public place like a café, pub or restaurant
  • 8 adults from 8 households outdoors
  • Adult outdoor contact sports and indoor group exercises resume
  • Cinemas, amusement arcades and bingo halls reopen
  • Outdoor and indoor events to re-start on a small scale
  • Colleges and universities return to blended learning
  • Face-to-face support services resume
  • Non-professional performance arts resume

Ms Sturgeon is expected to meet clinical advisers this week before making an announcement to confirm the move to the lower stage of the five-tier system.

Cases permitting, Scotland will enter level 2 on Monday, May 17, level 1 on Monday June 7 and level 0 in late June.

Though the First Minister has warned "the precise detail of any continued restrictions will depend on an assessment of the situation closer to the time."

She said: “We would hope, from that date, to allow indoor hospitality to return to greater normality, with alcohol able to be served indoors and within more normal opening hours, though possibly with some continued restrictions - a requirement for people to book in two hour slots, for example."
