'Lock and load' - Bristol Flyers add more shooting with the arrival of American guard

Bristol Flyers have boosted their roster for the BBL season run-in by completing the signing of American shooting guard Eric Lockett out of North Carolina State University.

The 6ft5in wing joins the Flyers for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign and signs from Al-Rayyan Sports Club in Qatar.

Lockett, averaged 7.9 points per game during his five-year college career, enjoying spells with George Mason, Chipola and Florida International before transferring to NC State for his senior year.

He posted a career-high 14.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as a Sophomore at FIU, shooting 46.6% from the field.

Lockett flew into Bristol this week and goes straight into coach Andreas Kapoulas’ squad for this weekend’s double-header against Worcester Wolves and Manchester Giants.

"We are very pleased to add Eric to our roster and see him in his BBL debut this weekend,” said Kapoulas.

"He will add depth to our team and make an impact on both ends of the court as we enter the most important part of the season with 12 games left to secure a spot in the play-offs.”

The Flyers lie eighth in the BBL, occupying the final play-off spot having missed out on the postseason in 2018/19. However, with two games in hand on Cheshire Phoenix in seventh, have an opportunity to further climb the standings.
