Residents in Tameside have reported hearing screaming around the time a 'man with a machete' was spotted running up a street.
Police have confirmed a man was taken to hospital with what is believed to be a knife injury following the dramatic incident on Saturday night which saw one of the main junctions in Dukinfield taped off for several hours.
Officers were called to Astley Street near the junction with King Street at around 9:15pm. They say a man was found with 'injuries that are consistent with a bladed article being used.'

Paramedics also attended and he was taken to hospital, however his injuries are not life-threatening.
Locals have said they heard shouting and screaming coming from the street shortly before officers arrived on the scene. Whilst a punter at a nearby pub is said to have reported seeing a man with blood on him and carrying a machete running past the premises on Astley Street.
The cordon was put in place just outside the entrance to the Commercial pub although bosses there say it was unrelated to them.
Landlady Sharon Ralphs said: "It was just after the England game had finished. A customer had been outside and came up to me and said he'd just seen a guy with a machete with blood all over him running up the street past the pub.
"Within a few minutes the police were here and they taped it all off. They wouldn't tell us any more about what had happened though. The pub was allowed to stay open and people could still come and go.
"It was a bt unsettling though, to be honest. It was quite a somber atmosphere anyway as England had lost but everyone was talking about it and it was definitely a bit concerning for people."
A nearby resident, who did not want to be named, said: "We heard screaming and shouting coming from the street. It was really high-pitched screaming. I thought it must be from the TV at first.
"We didn't think too much of it, to be honest, we thought it must just be a typical Saturday night kick-off but then we heard all the sirens and could see all the police and we knew something serious must have happened."
A woman who also lives nearby said: "There were a lot of sirens. They got closer then they stopped so I knew they must be nearby and I could see the traffic building up. It was about 10 to 15 minutes before they blocked traffic going through the crossroads. They were here a good couple of hours."
Whilst another neighbour said: "Just after the football I heard some shouting and thought it must be people from the pu. I couldn't see anything but not too long after there was two police vans and three police cars and they had taped it off before the junction and then later after it as well.
"They took the tape down after a couple of hours but they were here for a good while, I could still see one police car when I woke in the night at about 3am"
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
A spokesperson for the force said: "At around 9:15pm last night (Saturday 10 December) GMP were called to reports of a disturbance at Astley Street, Tameside.
"The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) also attended the scene and a male in his 20s was taken to hospital with injuries that are consistent with a bladed article being used. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
"GMP are appealing to members of the public who were on Astley Road or around the area around 9:15pm last night.
