LNER issues urgent warning advising train passengers not to travel all weekend as Storm Arwen sweeps in

LNER has issued an urgent warning to all passengers intending to travel tonight and this weekend as Storm Arwen sweeps across the country with heavy rain, snow and gale-force winds hitting the UK.

As flood warnings continue to be issued and a red warning for severe winds put in place by the Met Office, all trains heading north of Newcastle have been cancelled.

This means there are no longer any services heading up towards Scotland at all.

LNER has advised all passengers not to travel until the end of service on Sunday November 28 due to 'significant disruption' to services caused by high winds and heavy rain.
