Lizzo has taken to social media to address the commentary around her recent weight loss, revealing “the truth” behind her body transformation while denying she is on Ozempic.
On Friday, the musician shared a before-and-after shot of her body on Instagram, saying that despite critics “wanting me to be on Ozempic”, her weight loss was the result of plain ol’ dieting and exercising.
“In light of all these magazines and blogs wanting me to be on Ozempic soooo bad — here’s the truth,” Lizzo wrote.

She went on to reveal that she has been “work[ing] my ass off” with a range of lifestyle changes including training sessions, daily cardio, and “adding animal protein back into my diet”.
The singer — who has long championed body positivity in her music — also said she has hired a chef who “helps me meal prep and keeps track of what I put into my body”, adding that she removed certain foods from her diet and briefly quit alcohol.
“I’m so happy and proud of what I’ve done and no one can take that away from me,” Lizzo declared.

It comes as scores of trolls continue to speculate that Lizzo’s weight loss was the result of Ozempic, a medication used to manage blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes with side-effects including weight loss.
Last year, at the height of the trolling, Lizzo poked fun at the commentary by dressing up as a box of Ozempic for Halloween, complete with an FDA-approved sticker and a faux Instagram ad listing side-effects like “a smile on your face and a pep in your step”.
Lizzo has been open about her health and fitness efforts for many years, though her weight loss journey has been a rocky one.
In 2020, she was forced to defend her decision to undergo a ten-day smoothie detox amid criticism she was promoting toxic diet culture.

Elsewhere, the “About Damn Time” singer has taken to social media multiple times to call out critics of her workout routines, and more recently reacted to a South Park episode that jokingly mentioned an alternative to Ozempic called “Lizzo”.
In any case, I need to get myself a private chef like Lizzo, if only because I’ve been living on butter noodles and cans of tuna for the past month.
