Livingston Women's striker hails team's character after sealing league title

Livingston Women’s striker Jen Dodds heaped praise on the club’s character and admits they learned a lot from last season’s failures, writes Angus McGregor.

A mainstay in the side since joining ahead of their maiden season last year, the striker and her team-mates have now written themselves into the history books after securing promotion to the SWPL2 with their 3-3 draw against Renfrew.

However, the game itself was “horrible”, with Dodds only able to enjoy the moment once the final whistle blew, saying: “I’m just relieved because it was a horrible game. I hated every minute of it.”

As a part of the side last season, Dodds believes that the team have come into their own this year, growing together as a unit.

She added: “Last season we learned a lot and it’s really helped us this season. We’ve grown a lot in terms of character and showing those signs of fighting back which we never really did last season.”

With 13 goals this campaign, Dodds has added quality alongside Livingston’s battling tendencies.

The two have been necessary for getting the club over the line and sealing the title with two games to spare, with the team rewarded for their efforts this season.

Dodds said: “We showed the character, especially to come from behind three times. I’m just so proud of everyone and it’s such a good, well-deserved moment.”
