Livingston Women’s ace Erin Burns hopes her double in last weekend’s victory over Ayr United is a sign of things to come now she's back to full fitness.
Erin, a summer signing from Edinburgh City, suffered an ankle injury earlier in the campaign that ruled her out for five weeks but has hit the ground running on her return.
A long-distance brace ensured the points headed back to West Lothian as she helped secure a 4-1 win and keep the Lionesses top of the SWF Championship table.
Speaking to the West Lothian Courier, she said: "I’m delighted with my performance but also the team’s as well because I think we played brilliantly and deserved the win.
“It was a tough few weeks when I was out being injured, especially as a new signing because you want to get off to a good start. Hopefully now that I’ve got 90 minutes and a couple of goals under my belt I can keep contributing.
“The girls all kept me going and it was great to see them playing well and winning games but I’m happy to be back playing and I want to contribute."
While things are going well on the park, she knows she's at a club who do things right off the park, too. That's been highlighted by the recent arrival of a club chaplain while they also announced last week that they will no longer be wearing white shorts to reduce anxieties when players have their period.
She commented: "It’s a club that really goes that extra mile, more than any other club I've been at to be honest. It’s a great place to be.
"To have such a good network of people who put a lot of time and effort into the mental well-being side of things is something that I know is really appreciated by everyone. If people are going above and beyond to help you, it makes you even more determined to succeed."
Next up for the Lionesses is an intriguing SWF Championship and League One cup tie at home to Rossvale on Tuesday night. It's first versus second in the Championship table for a place in the semi-final and while Erin admits the primary aim is promotion this term, she's eyeing cup success too.
She said: "Rossvale are a very good side so we know it’s going to be a really challenging game. I’m confident that if we keep playing to the standards we have in recent weeks then we can get the win.
“The aim this season is obviously promotion but you always want to win cups as well so this is definitely a competition we’re targeting. There’s a confidence within the group but we know we have to be at our best.”
