Livingetc Style Awards 2025 — Outdoor Living

This year's Outdoor Living Style Award winners stood out for bringing the spirit of Livingetc interiors outside. Think boldly patterned rugs, color-drenched furniture and playful garden accessories, all designed to elevate and bring personality to outdoor rooms.

Best in class: Oasis fabric collection by Larsen

In just two understated patterns – stripes and herringbone – and a curated palette of soothing neutral hues, this collection is small but very perfectly formed. As soft to the touch as it is durable to the elements, this tactile and textured yarn would feel just as much at home indoors. ‘I love how far outdoor fabrics have come on recently, blending seamlessly with the best of interior designs. This collection is a prime example of a textile that seems almost too luxe to keep for outside,’ says Livingetc's executive editor Pip Rich.

Best outdoor dining chair: High Tech by Grythyttan Stålmöbler

Originally designed by renowned Swedish architect Nisse Strinning in 1984, the reissued chair is reimagined in fresh new colourways. Its steel frame seems to float, creating a gentle rocking motion. ‘This lightweight shape is ideal,’ says Livingetc's group editor in chief Sarah Spiteri.

Best outdoor armchair: Samaya by Made

Deckchair stripes have been a big trend for interiors so it makes sense that they’ve found their way back to outdoor furniture, too – as this plump, squashy and inviting chair illustrates. ‘I’d be very happy to move this inside and have it in my living room all winter,’ says Livingetc's deputy editor Ellen Finch.

Best outdoor furniture collection: Curato by Birdie Fortescue

The delicate ogee pattern is inspired by Cuban designs but looks right at home in a British garden. ‘This has a charming country feel with just enough contemporary flair to work in an urban space,’ says Livingetc's digital editor Hugh Metcalf.

Best outdoor extra: Play-Style Origin outdoor pool table by Cornilleau

No one could claim this is an essential, but how cool would it be to have on the patio? The angle of the legs gives it a mid-century look elevating it from your standard design. ‘It’s quite literally fun for all the family,’ says Ellen.

Best outdoor dining table: Gilman by Arteriors

The sculptural cutaways in the round base of this dining table allow sunlight and air to flow through, creating just the right feeling of space and airiness you want in your outdoor furniture. Made from Grade A teak veneer and engineered hardwood, it has a rich patina. ‘I can imagine relaxed meals spent around this table and because it is circular it’s ideal for an outdoor space where I don’t want to see too many hard edges,’ says Hugh.

Best decorative outdoor design: Josef Frank Citrus Garden white parasol by Plia Parasols

Created using a fabric by Schumacher, this beauty is adorned with the lemons that Italy’s Amalfi coast is famous for. ‘So beautiful and so energising – this is proof how pretty parasols can and should be,’ says Ellen.

Best outdoor rug: Muturi by Designers Guild

Made from recycled bottles, the dynamic stripes of this rug are as playful as all the prints we’ve come to associate with the brand. It cuts a joyful dash on a patio or lawn, creating an inviting ambience for long summer afternoons. ‘It’s also available in ochre and sienna mix, and I love both colourways. It makes gardens feel so relaxed,’ says Sarah.

Best outdoor sofa: 1977 by King Living

Many of this year’s winners appear to be inspired by the 1970s, but none wear it so obliquely as the 1977 sofa. It has the squishiness that was common back then yet feels entirely right for now. ‘Absolutely ideal for both family afternoons and evening cocktail parties,’ says Sarah.

Best outdoor surface: Dekton® Pietra Edition by Cosentino

This dazzling surface definitely wouldn’t look out of place in a luxury hotel on a Greek island. And Dekton® is highly resistant to UV rays, fire, heat, scratches and stains. ‘I’d like to use this lined by overflowing lavender beds,’ says Hugh.

Best in outdoor cooking: Tread pizza oven by Gozney

Billed as ‘the world’s most portable pizza oven’, this is no bigger than a regular barbecue but means you can make pizzas without having to build a stove into the corner of your garden. ‘This is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, something I’d definitely use weekly,’ says Pip.
