Livingetc Style Awards 2025 — Furniture

Confident silhouettes and strong colour choices defined this year’s winning furniture. The mood in design right now is about creating convivial spaces, and the winners here manage that with ease. These are pieces with presence, designed to anchor a room and enhance it at the same time, timeless yet contemporary and very right for now.

Best in class: LALA Reimagined x Anthropologie furniture collection

LA-based design studio LALA Reimagined teamed up with Anthropologie for a capsule collection of furniture with their trademark personality. ‘It’s an impressive collection imbued with wit and warmth and in such interesting shapes. I love it,’ says Livingetc's group editor-in-chief Sarah Spiteri.

Best Storage: Mariner bar cabinet by Julian Chichester

In an era when homes are about entertaining, a drinks cabinet has become almost as key as a sofa and a bed. Especially when it’s made in a deep, dark French oak and studded with raised brass stars. ‘I also love the character that comes from the aged mirror inlay,’ says Livingetc's executive editor Pip Rich.

Best cocktail chair: Velvet lounge chair by Six The Residence

Taking its lead from the best of 1970s design, this lounge chair has a raised walnut plinth and plush camel velvet form, its organic shape both friendly and elegant. On top of that, it’s also really comfortable to sit back in, read a book in or sip a cocktail in. A perfect all-rounder. ‘I have a few pieces from Six The Residence and am always impressed by the craftsmanship, quality and style. This new chair is no different – a pair would look perfect opposite a more formal sofa,’ says Livingetc's digital editor Hugh Metcalf.

Best dining table: Highmoor extending table by Ercol

As with much of what Ercol designs, the Highmoor has a mid-century flavour, and therefore feels completely timeless. It manages to sit next to vintage or brand-new styles, feeling at home in any scheme, creating a space for friends to sit around and share good times. ‘The legs are like sculpture, and the overall effect is both retro and modern,’ says Livingetc's deputy editor Ellen Finch.

Best accent chair: Loulou Rock by Gallotti&Radice

Yes, the silhouette of Gallotti&Radice’s new rocker is striking, and on its own it becomes an art piece. But it’s also far more comfortable than its metal frame suggests. ‘I could very happily sit on it for hours – its gentle rock is as soothing as its shape is eye-catching,’ says Hugh.

Best furniture collaboration: Eva Sonaike x Robert Langford

Eva Sonaike’s textiles energise schemes . Her partnership with Robert Langford has resulted in an offering of ottomans, chairs and a made-to-measure headboard . ‘Eva makes using pattern look easy – especially when it’s executed as well as this collection,’ says Sarah.

Best dining chair: Amelie by Bontempi Casa

There’s a wonderful whimsy to the Amelie chair, which evokes the French film of the same name – they both share a charm and sense of joy. ‘I was so pleased to sit in this chair midway through a very busy Salone del Mobile in Milan – it was so utterly comfortable,’ says Pip.

Best sofa: Lunar by Sofology

Our love of curves remains – and the gorgeous Lunar sofa has masterfully blended rounded edges with the ability to lie across it (ie - no awkward corners) for this low-slung and highly cushioned design. ‘It’s very cocooning, smart enough to be a cocktail sofa and definitely relaxed enough for reclining,’ says Ellen.
