YDPP come to town

A cool thing about K-pop is that artists from different music labels can work together. The project YDPP is a great example of this. While the duo MXM - Lim Young-min, 22, and Kim Dong-hyun, 19, are from Brand New Music, two solo singers, Jeong Se-woon, 21, and Lee Gwang-hyun, 19, are from Starship Entertainment. The four guys released the lively pop song, “Love It Live It,” together.

Even though MXM and Se-woon already visited Thailand this year, fans enthusiastically welcomed YDPP for their special show at Central Plaza Chaengwattana. On June 16, the hall was packed and fans screamed wildly. The guys hit stage in black outfits to sing Produce 101’s theme, “Pick Me.” The foursome introduced themselves and then performed the dance song “Be Mine,” originally sung by Infinite. Arranged by The Lime Thailand, the show had impressive stage design, with great lighting and sound.

PLAYFUL PERFORMERS

Compared to their first visit to Bangkok, Young-min, Dong-hyun, Se-woon were more laidback and playful. However, Gwang-hyun looked nervous and shy. He confessed that he’d never been at a fan meeting before.

SWEET HITS

Among the quartet, Se-woon’s unique voice stood out in his solo act with catchy songs like “Irony” and “Just U.” Gwang-hyun sang well with Se-woon. He added rapping to the Maroon 5 song “Sugar.”

TERRIFIC TEAMWORK

As a duo, Young-min and Dong-hyun showed strong teamwork. Their dance moves in “Perfectly Perfect,” “I’m the One” and “Diamond Girl” were well synchronised. They both sing well, but Dong-hyun has a more beautiful voice. Young-min was outstanding when he delivered sharp and rhythmic rapping.

FUNNY DRINK

Apart from their performances, the fans enjoyed watching the guys playing games together. It was funny when the team who lost had to swallow weird drinks which the winning team made for them.

FANTASTIC FANS

During the final part, the guys watched a video made by Thai fans. The fans showed their language skills by writing a Korean poem from the letters YDPP which impressed the guys. Young-min thanked the fans and said he wanted to give the fans happiness, but he unexpectedly got it in return. Se-woon made everybody happy by saying he loved the fans. They sang “Love It Live It” before leaving the stage and coming back to sing “Pick Me” one more time for an encore
