But Wirtz was not named in the Liverpool squad for what is their first game since the death of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva.
Giorgi Mamardashvili makes his Liverpool debut, while fellow summer signings Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman are on the bench.
Mohamed Salah captains Liverpool, with Virgil van Dijk not in the squad. Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz, Alisson and Alexis Mac Allister are also not in the squad.
There are starts for Luca Stephenson, Trey Nyoni and 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha.
Liverpool confirmed on Friday that they have retired Jota’s No20 shirt number in honour of the Portugal star, and both clubs will pay tribute to him ahead of kick-off.
There will be a rendition of Liverpool’s ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ ahead of kick-off, a minute’s silence will be observed and both sets of players will wear black armbands.
